Words from the Heart for Wednesday June 12th, 2019
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Psalm 56:3-4 (KJV)
I Will Trust You
Polar bears are amazing animals. Children love to own a stuffed version, but the reality is that these are very dangerous animals. So if someone offers you the chance to have your photo taken next to a polar bear, you really shouldn’t trust him. Unless he is at the Cochrane Ontario Polar Bear Habitat, which offers you this very experience, safely. The good news is that between you and a 740 pound polar bear is thick, clear Plexiglas.
Life can be challenging. Even the most confident of adults has times when fear grips their hearts and minds and paralyzes them. Little children run to their parents when fear grips them. But to whom can an adult run when life gets challenging, and fearful? Some adults will tell you that they don’t need anyone to run to. They can stand on their own. But even King David, the greatest ruler in his day, admitted that there were times when fear gripped him. And in Psalm 56:3-4 he tells us what he does when it does: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” What a blessing to know that God is on our side. He invites us, His children, to come running to Him when life gets overwhelming and we have nowhere else to turn. At one point in his life, David had more enemies than friends, it seemed, but he knew that no matter who was opposing him, God was on his side. He is on your side, too.
