Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you…

1 Thessalonians 5:1

Times and Seasons

Canada’s distinct seasons offer a diverse and captivating tapestry of weather, landscapes, and outdoor activities that attract visitors from around the globe. From the snow-covered winters of the north to the vibrant blooms of spring, the sunny days of summer, and the colorful foliage of autumn, each season in Canada brings its charm and opportunities for exploration. The country’s seasonal extremes demand more than a casual preparation. A summer hike in Banff requires completely different gear than a winter visit to the same trails.

Funny how a person can remember a single conversation from years ago. I was about 12 years old when I first spoke to my mother about Jesus’ return. I was reading the Bible and came to 1 Thessalonians 5. Paul teaches that none of us knows exactly when Jesus would return, but I was young, so I asked my mother. Her response was “Christians have been looking to Jesus to return since He went to heaven. We don’t know when he will be back. We just need to be sure our hearts are ready.” When our hearts belong to Jesus, we live ready. Not anxious. Not fearful. Just ready. We wake up each morning seeking to walk in obedience, to love well, to forgive quickly, and to serve faithfully. If He comes today, we rejoice. If He tarries another year, we continue in steady faithfulness. The Father has kept the timeline in His own hands. The One who saved us is the One who oversees history. So today, instead of watching the clock, watch your walk. Stay close to Jesus. Live with expectation. And trust that His timing will be perfect—just as He always is.

These have been words from the heart.
