Words from the Heart for Wednesday July 4th, 2018
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 124:8 (KJV)
Today is a holiday for our great neighbours, the USA. However, no nation is so great that it doesn’t need the Lord. As individuals or as a nation, we are dependent upon the Lord. He is available to us. And, He is more than capable to be just the Helper we need. He is Creator!
Millions of Canadians travel abroad every year to see and experience new things. Differences in security, laws, culture and climate quickly remind them that they are no longer in Canada. Each year, Global Affairs Canada helps thousands of Canadians who encounter difficulties while travelling, working, studying and living abroad. To avoid problems when traveling outside Canada I would suggest you get a copy of a very helpful little booklet from Global Affairs Canada called Bon Voyage. As well, download the Travel Smart app.
Have you ever had a moment when you were so overwhelmed that you simply gasped “help!” It might have been to no one in particular, or it might have been a prayer of desperation. We all have times in our lives when we need someone to come to our aid. Times when we are at our wits end and we don’t know where to turn. The Psalmist, David, certainly understood this. There were times in his life when his own sons were after this throne – family disputes can be the worst! Where did he turn in times like that? The answer is found in Psalm 124:8, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Over and over again, David watched the Lord come to his aid. God gave him peace in the midst of the most trying circumstances. God protected him from his enemies. And He will do the same for you, if you invite Him to. Jesus promised that He would never leave us or forsake us. You can trust Him in this. Whatever you are facing right now, your help is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
These have been words from the heart.
