Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2 NIV

Transformed

Back in 2014, a book called Canada Transformed was published, edited by Sarah Gibson. According to the Amazon webpage: “To coincide with the bicentennial of Sir John A. Macdonald’s birth, this is the first-ever selected collection of his most important and defining speeches. Published in collaboration with The Sir John A. Macdonald Bicentennial Commission, and endorsed by all of our living Prime Ministers, this is a beautifully produced book that deserves to be in all Canadian homes, schools, and libraries.”

If you have someone in your life that you trust to be honest with you, ask them if there is something in your life that needs to be changed. Or take time to be brutally honest with yourself. In the quiet moments, when you are self-reflecting, take time to ask yourself, and the Lord, what in your own life needs to be transformed. We all know that we are far from perfect. The Bible recognizes this as well. In Romans 12:2, Paul the apostle writes, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” It is so easy to go along with the flow of the world – to look, act, believe, respond, live like the world. But the Lord asks of us something else. Followers of Christ are commended – yes, commanded, to not conform to the pattern of this world. In order to be obedient to that command we need to be transformed – and God will do just that.

These have been words from the heart.
