One of the motivational gifts in the Romans 12 list of gifts is compassion. It is a gift that is a great blessing to those within the fellowship of Christ-followers and those who are not yet walking with Jesus. When we are going through a difficult time, we need those who will come around us and show the love of Jesus to us in practical ways. The good news is that Jesus is still Immanuel, still God with us, and He cares deeply for us. In his first epistle, the apostle writes this in 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” No matter what is on our hearts and minds, we can lay everything at the feet of Jesus. He always has a listening ear, and a heart that loves those who come to Him in faith, expressing the deepest longing of our heart, for our own need or for someone else. There is perhaps no lovelier verse in all of Scripture than this. It is profound in its simplicity, and speaks deeply and dearly about the loving nature of Jesus. Bring all your anxieties and cares to Him today. He cares for you.
These have been words from the heart.
