I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.

Psalm 3:4-6 NIV

Sustained

In September 2015, Canada and all the other 192 United Nations Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, at the UN General Assembly. This initiative is a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The 2030 Agenda presents Canada, and the world, with a historic opportunity to shape how societies of tomorrow grow sustainably and inclusively to the shared benefit of all.

I read the story of a woman whose mind was filled with concern. Her life was not easy, her finances were thin, her children were wayward and her marriage was crumbling. She was having a hard time sleeping and would lie awake for hours at night. One night, the Lord led her to Psalm 3:4-6 that says, “I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.” The woman prayed and said, “Well, Lord, you’re awake anyway. There is no sense both of us being awake carrying this.” And she rolled over and went to sleep. I wish we could all learn from this woman. Night time always seems to be the most difficult time, when we have worries and concerns. The physical darkness makes everything else seem dark as well. But God is the light in the night – He never slumbers or sleeps. He sustains us in the darkest moments of our lives. If you are carrying a lot right now, cast it all on the Lord Jesus. He loves you and He will sustain you, even when it looks dark.

These have been words from the heart.
