Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10 (NIV)

Devotion to a cause is highly celebrated in our culture. Someone who is so committed to some ideal becomes the face of whatever the issue is. If there is anyone who ought to understand being fully devoted, it’s a follower of Jesus Christ. Beginning with our devotion to Jesus, our entire life ought to be marked by devotion to all that He taught and to relationships into which He brings us. So we shouldn’t be surprised at what the apostle Paul writes in Romans 12:10: “Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.” Our devotion to Jesus Christ works its way into other relationships as well. This is particularly so when it comes to our brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. As followers of Christ, we are called to put others ahead of ourselves – that shows our devotion to them and it is how we honour them. This isn’t always easy – it takes prayer and wisdom to know how to set aside our own needs and rights in order to love others with the love of Jesus. This is particularly important in these odd days of pandemic. How can you express your devotion to other Christians as you relate to them today?
These have been words from the heart.
