Words from the Heart for Wednesday December 9th, 2020
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments.
Psalm 119:105-106 (NKJV)
Sworn and Confirmed
Canada never goes long without a Prime Minister being in place. The formal resignation of the outgoing prime minister, which also covers that of his or her ministers, is submitted to the Governor General very shortly before the swearing-in of the new prime minister. Her Majesty The Queen is informed by the Governor General of the acceptance of the resignation of a prime minister and of the swearing in of a new prime minister and members of the ministry.
When you love someone, your desire is to live your life in such a way that you never break their heart or disappoint them. That is certainly the truth in a marriage. At your wedding you make a covenant promise to be true your spouse for the rest of your life. That is a promise that is not easy to keep. It is only possible by working hard on staying in love. The same is true in our relationship with Jesus Christ. King David makes this promise in Psalm 119:105-106: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments.” David makes a solemn promise here, that he will live faithfully according to God’s standards and righteous judgments. That is a promise that every follower of Jesus Christ is called to make. Jesus commands those of us who love Him to keep His commandments (John 14:15). It isn’t enough to simply sing a worship song about loving Jesus. If we truly to love Him, we will live our lives in obedience to His word – His righteous judgments. Have you promised Him to do so as David did?
These have been words from the heart.
