Words from the Heart for Wednesday December 4th, 2019

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV)

Armour

In the Canadian army, Armour Officers provide reconnaissance and direct-fire support in battle from armoured fighting vehicles such as the Leopard main battle tank, the Coyote surveillance vehicle, and a variant of the wheeled Light Utility Vehicle. An Armour Officer is the leader of armoured vehicles in a Reconnaissance Squadron, a Tank Troup or Direct-Fire Support Troop. They are responsible for soldiers’ training, morale, discipline and combat efficiency.

I knew a woman who took the armour of God idea very seriously. During a particularly challenging time in her life, she would take time every morning to put on each part of the armour, speaking them as she did so. It reminded her each morning that in Christ she had all she needed to overcome whatever new challenge would come her way that day. It helped her walk in victory. She was able to live out the truth, and the command, of Ephesians 6:10-11: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Now I don’t look for demons behind every bush, but the Bible is clear that we are involved in spiritual warfare as we live our lives for Jesus each day. The devil is trying to thwart the plan of God for our lives and is also trying to trip us up and cause us to sin so that the name of Jesus would be dragged through the mud. We must not let this happen and in order for that to be the case, we need to cloth ourselves with the full armour of God, that protects us completely from the temptation that comes our way.

These have been words from the heart.
