This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:10 NIV
This is Love
An article online entitled 6 Reasons to Love Canada says “In this day and age, it’s a privilege to be able to breathe deeply and inhale fresh, clean air. There are plenty of places that have dangerous levels of air quality — indeed, if you’re planning to move to London or New York, it’ll be something that you just have to contend with. But not so in Canada. This is a sparsely populated country with a lot of pristine outdoor areas, meaning the air is among the freshest in the world.”
Human beings express love in so many different ways. Mostly, it is caring for someone else, in the actions that may not even be noticed by the person on the receiving end of that compassion. It is easy for a person to say they love someone, but if their actions don’t back up their words, it is doubtful they really do love that person. The Bible speaks often of love – at its heart it’s a love story of our Creator towards His creation, and especially us. In the greatest act of love, He came in Jesus Christ and suffered a cruel death on a Roman cross to bear the punishment we deserve for our sins. The apostle John stood with a few others at the foot of that cross on the day that Jesus died, and he would later write about it in 1 John 4:10: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” God loves you and has shown His love through Jesus’ death. How have you responded in love to Him?
These have been words from the heart.
