Words from the Heart for Wednesday August 29th, 2018

He made a promise in the name of the God who lives for ever and ever. This is the God who created the sky, earth and sea and all that is in them. The angel said, “There will be no more waiting!”

Revelation 10:6 (NIRV)

He Made a Promise

There is no basis of a promise more sure than one made in the name of the Lord our God who lives forever. He is Creator of all the universe. His word can be absolutely trusted. Our assurance is because of the One who makes the promises to us.

Girl Guides of Canada began in 1910, when the formation of the first group, St. Catharines Company, was registered. Now the branches of the Guiding movement include Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers, Cadets and Junior Leaders, with groups in most communities, in every province and territory. The philosophy of the organization is expressed in the Promise, “I promise to do my best, to be true to myself, my beliefs and Canada; I will take action for a better world, and respect the Guiding Law”.

We who are followers of Jesus look at the world through the lenses of the Bible and God’s calling on our lives. The Christian worldview is based on the unchanging truths of God’s word, and they help us to form our thinking. As a result, our hearts are heavy as we look at the sin, pain, injustice and suffering that is far too common in the world today. It both deepens the pain and gives us great hope knowing that the Lord, who created the world and loved it enough to send Jesus as the Redeemer, has a plan to end the pain and suffering and to bring about a world of peace and justice. This is guaranteed. An angel in Revelation 10:6 makes a promise, “He made a promise in the name of the God who lives for ever and ever. This is the God who created the sky, earth and sea and all that is in them. The angel said, “There will be no more waiting!”” As we keep up with the news each day, we often cry out, “How long, Lord?” There is a day coming when He will say, “The waiting is over.”

These have been words from the heart.
