So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:21 (NLT)
Every Living Thing
After the early European explorers realized Canada was not the spice-rich Orient, the main profit-making attraction was the beaver population. In the late 1600s and early 1700s, the fashion of the day demanded fur hats, which needed beaver pelts. The trade of beaver pelts proved so profitable that many Canadians felt compelled to pay tribute to the buck-toothed animal. The beaver was given official status when an act making the beaver a symbol of Canada received royal assent on March 24, 1975.
If you’ve ever watched a documentary on life in the depths of the oceans, you will recognize some of the oddest and scariest creatures that God ever created. Some are completely blind – there is no light that deep anyway. Others have huge, sharp teeth, ready to tear apart any prey they happen to bump into as they swim in the cold deep waters. Every creature in the ocean is created perfectly for the depth and environment in which it is placed. The same goes for the animals that fill the sky. Here is what Genesis 1:21 says about all of this: “So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.” I love how the Bible expresses the satisfaction God has with His creation. When He was done, He sat back and proclaimed it good. I would concur. When you look at all God has created, including you, see it all as God does. Even with the Fall, and the introduction of sin into this world, God still loves all He has created – especially you!
These have been words from the heart.
