Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 NIV

Man of Lawlessness

This past March a report was released by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute that revealed rising crime, falling clearance rates and a bail system widely seen as broken. In the report we discover that violent crime, violent crime severity, and property crime have continued to increase in most provinces and territories. As well, median case lengths have risen across the country, with every jurisdiction less efficient than it was two years ago. And sadly, crime rates in the territories remain dramatically higher than in the provinces.

I sometimes watch videos on a YouTube channel that teach about cults in our world. Many of them I haven’t heard of, but it is shocking how many are started by individuals who started out in solid Christian homes and churches. They have sadly been led astray and take others captive to these false and often dangerous teaching. It has ever been so, as was the case within the early church in Thessalonica, where false teaching was being promulgated that Jesus had already returned. Paul deals with this in 2 Thessalonians 2:3: “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.” Discernment grows in the soil of a close walk with the Lord. It comes as we stay rooted in His Word, as we listen for His voice above the noise, as we test what we hear against what we know to be true. Truth doesn’t shift with the times; it stands firm, anchored in the character of God. Stay anchored. Stay watchful. Stay close to Jesus and His Word.

These have been words from the heart.
