Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Enduring Forever

According to a report from the Fraser Institute, Albertans endure the longest healthcare wait times of all Canadians. In Alberta, the median wait in 2023 between a family doctor’s referral for a specialist appointment and receipt of treatment was 33.5 weeks—that’s the longest total median wait outside the Maritime provinces and almost six weeks longer than the national median wait of 27.7 weeks. And Albertans now wait 23 weeks longer than they did in 1993 when the wait for care was only 10.5 weeks.

Every one of us has a nature. Each one of us has attributes that make us unique and cause us to act and speak the way we do. But we are human, which means that too often sin raises its ugly head, and we respond to others in ways that seem so contrary to the way God made us. What a contrast to the God who created us. He cannot, ever, act contrary to His nature. Which is why King David was able to write, in Psalm 107:1: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” God is by nature good. He can be nothing else. Out of the goodness flows His enduring love. You can count on that. You never have to be concerned about how God will respond when you enter into His presence. He will always welcome you with love. You never need to doubt that He is good. Even when challenging times come, you don’t need to doubt God’s goodness. In fact, in those challenging times you need to cling to His goodness more than at any other time. Give thanks to our God.
