Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

Commit Your Ways

Back in 2022, fourteen elite Canadian basketball players, including Jamal Murray, R.J. Barrett and nine other NBAers, committed to representing Canada between now and the 2024 Olympics. They have agreed to come to camp, even if they are injured and cannot play. According to Canadian coach Nick Nurse, whose day job is coaching the Toronto Raptors, “If this team can get to the floor and stay together for a couple of summers, you’re going to see a really good team.”

Amazing things happen when we put our faith in God. We admit there are things we cannot do in our own strength, and we need Him to come through for us. Non-believers tell us we are weak when we do this, but I happen to believe that it shows true spiritual strength to admit that we need our Creator in order to accomplish anything that has eternal significance. David, King of all Israel, knew how much he needed the Lord to govern the people well. In Psalm 37:5-6 we read, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” This is quite the command and promise. To this day, in spite of his sin, we remember David as a man of God, a righteous leader who had seen God vindicate him. God will do the same for us. As we commit our lives to Him, no matter what our past looks like, we will find that God becomes our greatest champion. He transforms our lives – vindicates us – and make us righteous through Jesus Christ. Commit your way to the Lord today.
