Words from the Heart for Tuesday September 17th, 2019
The Lord said to me, “This gate must remain shut. It must not be opened. No one can enter through it. It must remain shut because I have entered through it. I am the God of Israel.”
Ezekiel 44:2 (NIRV)
Canada Gate forms part of the Queen Victoria Memorial scheme in London. An entrance to the Green Park, one of the eight Royal Parks in central London, the gate was presented to London by Canada (then the senior Dominion of the British Empire) as part of a vast memorial scheme dedicated to Queen Victoria, who died in 1901. The gate is in the same style as those of Buckingham Palace and bears the emblems of the seven Canadian provinces of the time.
There is coming a great day. The last verse of Canada’s national anthem even mentions it, calling it the Better Day. The Bible refers to it often. It is that day when God will usher in the new heaven and the new earth and Revelation 21:3 tells us that, “God’s dwelling place is now among the people and he will dwell with them.” What a glorious day that will be. The prophet Ezekiel gets a glimpse of this as well, when the final Temple is revealed and God takes up residence there. He describes it this way in Ezekiel 44:2: “The Lord said to me, ‘This gate must remain shut. It must not be opened. No one can enter through it. It must remain shut because I have entered through it. I am the God of Israel.’” What a powerful picture of the Lord God entering into the final Temple and taking His place among the redeemed. This is all part of the “blessed hope” that Paul speaks about in his epistle to Titus. Every believer is called to serve God in this world, and as we do, we keep the long view – looking forward to that Better Day when King Jesus will take up residence among His people.
These have been words from the heart.
