Words from the Heart for Tuesday September 10th, 2019
A message from the Lord came to me. The Lord said, “Son of man, are you going to judge Jerusalem? Will you judge this city that has so many murderers in it? Then tell its people they have done many evil things. I hate those things.”
Ezekiel 22:1-2 (NIRV)
Canada unfortunately finds itself at the top of a list it would rather not be on at all. Website Top Tenz recently presented a list called Top Ten Evil Actions by Usually Nice Countries. Why is Canada at the top of the list? In a word, asbestos. In spite of knowing that asbestos is a serious carcinogen, Canada continues to export asbestos to developing countries. It is the only western country that does so.
It isn’t politically correct to speak of anything but the love of God these days. It is true that God is love and that He offers His love to us unconditionally. But to ignore the justice side of God is to miss the very reason that Jesus had to come. There are things that God hates, and the Bible speaks of them. Listen to what Ezekiel 22:1-2 says: “A message from the Lord came to me. The Lord said, “Son of man, are you going to judge Jerusalem? Will you judge this city that has so many murderers in it? Then tell its people they have done many evil things. I hate those things.” Jerusalem had become a city of idolatry. They had taken on the worship of the nations around them, and it was more than just bowing down to idols. The pagan worship included all sorts of perversion and debauchery, along with human sacrifice. It was all detestable to the Lord. God still hates these things, and calls men and women to turn from these practices and through faith in Jesus Christ, receive from the Lord a new heart and new passions. God loves you enough to empower you to turn from doing those things He hates.
These have been words from the heart.
