Words from the Heart for Tuesday October 8th, 2019

The Lord says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you. Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they, too, will be my people. I will live among you, and you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me to you.”

Zechariah 2:10-11 (NLT)

Living Among You

A website designed for those considering applying to live in Canada gives 10 reasons why Canada is a good place for immigrants to live. One of the reasons was news to me: Canada has the best benefits, holidays and paid leave in North America. It’s the only country in North America with mandated vacation leave, with 2 guaranteed weeks of paid vacation for all employees, in addition to 6 to 10 statutory holidays, depending on the province. Canadian workers are permitted to take up to 18 months of parental leave, with the mother and father able to share the leave.

There are many who have the idea that the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven is a New Testament concept tied in with the second coming of Jesus. While this is a major theme of the New Testament, there are very clear indications of this in the Hebrew Scriptures as well. God makes the promise that there will come a time when He dwells with His people and they will be people from every nation on the planet. Zechariah 2:10-11 teaches this: “The Lord says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you. Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they, too, will be my people. I will live among you, and you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me to you.” What a wonderful promise. God is going to take up residence among His people. And those people will be from many nations. While He introduced Himself to the world through His covenant with Israel, it was always His plan to reach the whole world with His redemptive love and grace. What a great day that will be.

These have been words from the heart.
