Words from the Heart for Tuesday October 30th, 2018

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

Exposed

In creation the Lord commanded the universe to come into place and order through the words, “Let there be…” The Word of the Lord is powerful in every setting. The written Word again and again works in our lives to reveal even the innermost thoughts and desires. In the beginning the words of the Lord brought change. His written Word can do that in our lives today.

LocationSmart is a company that compiles cellular data and sells it to third parties, such as app developers, to verify users’ locations or send location-based promotions. This past May, the company, which collects location data from millions of cellphones across North America reportedly exposed the real-time location of over 200 million people. LocationSmart once featured a tool on its website that allowed users to try out its tracking services before buying them. However, due to a bug on its website, this feature never required the consent of smartphone users before tracking their location.

There are no lack of books in this world. Library shelves are full, and new books are released by the thousands each day around the world. Many of them only sell a few copies. It is rare for a book to be a best seller. Since Gutenberg invented the movable type printing press back in 1439 there is one book that has remained at the top of the best seller list – the Bible. This isn’t surprising. Hebrews 4:12 says “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” God’s Word is unique among all literature because it is the only God-breathed book. When a person picks up a Bible and begins to read it, they discover it brings about conviction, transformation, wisdom and direction. Its truth gets deep down inside a person and begins to root out sin and then brings healing and reconciliation. It exposes evil and allows the Holy Spirit to do His cleansing work. How has the Bible changed your life?

These have been words from the heart.
