Words from the Heart for Tuesday October 26th, 2021

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

2 Corinthians 3:3 (NIV)

A Letter

The government of Canada strongly recommends that Canadian children carry a consent letter if they are travelling abroad alone with only one parent/guardian, with friends or relatives or with a group. A consent letter is not a legal requirement in Canada, but it can simplify travel for Canadian children, as it may be requested by immigration authorities when entering or leaving a foreign country or by Canadian officials when re-entering Canada. The letter demonstrates that Canadian children have permission to travel abroad.

Most people don’t write personal letters anymore. They have generally been replaced by email which are immediate and less expensive than sending a traditional letter. We still understand what a letter is, however, which makes what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 3:3 so intriguing. He writes: “You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” The apostle Paul is famous for his epistles, letters to churches and individuals. But what he is speaking about here are the lives that have been impacted by his ministry. He was a church planter, a pastor, and evangelist. Countless people were introduced to Jesus Christ through his ministry, and he tells them that each of them is a testimony to God’s power at work in their lives. So are we. If you are a follower of Jesus, your life is an account of what Jesus has done. As others look at you, they see the love and power of God for you and for them. You are a letter from Christ. Let others read about Him through you today.

These have been words from the heart.
