But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

Trust

Back in February, as the first anniversary of the pandemic was nearing, a report was released that shows Canadians hold the highest trust levels for scientists and doctors, while politicians and employers are sliding down the trust scale. A resounding 85 per cent of Canadians also agree that it is very or extremely important for citizens to have access to fact-based journalism. Canadians want advice from experts and information based on facts, both traits that support a healthy democracy.

We live in an age when many have lost trust in major institutions, government and the media. Even more challenging is when we lose trust in those we love. Being human means we are far from perfect and too easily we fail to live up to the promises we have made or the trust others have put in us. There is only one place we can put our trust and never be disappointed or let down. Jeremiah 17:7 says, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.” The word blessed here means “filled with joy.” The joy comes becomes as we put our trust in the Lord, He consistently fills us with His presence and never lets us down or disappoints us. No matter what we are facing, we can trust God to meet our need and to fill us with His peace. He loves us unconditionally and promises never to leave us or forsake us. For many, those who have been let down by an institution, organization, government or individual, it is difficult to trust anyone. But the Lord Jesus will never fail you. He cannot. By nature, He is completely and consistently faithful. Trust Him and experience His joy.

These have been words from the heart.
