Words from the Heart for Tuesday November 27th, 2018

The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

Psalm 93:1-2 (NIV)

The Lord Reigns

Lift up praise to the Lord. This psalm gives us the picture of the Lord as the Royal King. He is the majestic One. He has no limit of strength. He is the eternal One who established the world through creation. His authority is above all. Worship His majesty!

Canada had three different Prime Ministers in 1984. While this may surprise you, the same thing had happened previously in 1896 and would happen again in 1993! Pierre Trudeau was the Prime Minister of Canada until June 30, 1984 when he stepped down as leader of the Liberal Party. That same day John Turner became the Liberal leader, and so became the Prime Minister. An election was then held on September 17, 1984, and with a Conservative victory, their leader Brian Mulroney become the Prime Minister.

Earthly rulers are never in power very long — even long-living Queen Elizabeth — will eventually pass on. Only the eternal God of the universe, the Creator God who spoke this world into being, will rule and reign without end. The Psalmist was aware of this and writes these beautiful words in Psalm 93:1-2: “The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.” What a blessing to know that the God with whom we have entered into relationship through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus, will rule over this world and over our lives forever. Through all the changes that take place in our world, for good and evil, we have the absolute confidence that God will have firm control over us. By faith we see Him, robed in majesty and armed in strength, establishing our lives as He established the world in the mists of time. Have you put your trust in Him? How does He keep your life secure today?

These have been words from the heart.
