Words from the Heart for Tuesday November 19th, 2019
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Romans 1:16 (NKJV)
Feelings of shame and embarrassment often keep Canadians from discussing their financial challenges, found Manulife’s most recent study on health and wealth released just over a year ago. These emotional barriers can have a negative impact on the health of Canadians, say professional counsellors surveyed in the study. The mental and physical effects on health can reduce the quality of life and productivity of those affected.
Have you ever noticed that in any conversation, there is no problem discussing most topics, including bringing God into the mix? But mention Jesus, and unless you are in a gathering of Christians, the atmosphere tenses up a mix. As a result, many followers of Jesus never bring Him up in conversation, and never share what He is doing in their lives with others. It isn’t socially acceptable in many circles to be Christ followers in our day. In fact, it has never been a popular thing to tell others they need to put their faith in Jesus Christ. But that shouldn’t prevent us from doing so. Paul the apostle tells us why in Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” The early followers of Jesus were not only unashamed, they were bold in telling those they met about Jesus. It cost them their lives, as it has many in our day. May the Lord give us holy boldness to share what Jesus has done for us, and can for others. The Gospel is till the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.
These have been words from the heart.
