Words from the Heart for Tuesday November 17th, 2020
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

Out of His Glorious Riches
Terence Matthews’ dual Welsh-Canadian citizenship helped him earn the accolade of being Wales’ first billionaire, as well as being one of Canada’s top ten richest people. He earned his wealth through roles at telecom companies Mitel and Newbridge Networks. Matthews left Mitel in December 2018, after the company was sold for 2.8 billion Canadian dollars. He also has an investment firm, Wesley Clover International, and claims to have founded or funded more than 100 companies.
From time to time we hear stories about some of the wealthiest people giving some of their money to those less fortunate or in great need. Their generosity is acknowledged and appreciated. If rich humans are known to do this from time to time, how much more is God generous in giving to those who belong to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:14-17 says this: “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” While the Lord loves to bless His people with all they need physically – Jesus does teach us to pray for our daily bread – Paul here is speaking about the spiritual riches that are ours when we put our faith and trust in Christ. Jesus promised that when He returned to the Father, He would send the Holy Spirit. On the Day of Pentecost, the Spirit came in power, and filled all those who were present. He comes to fill us as well, and through Him, we receive all the spiritual riches God has for us.
