But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit…
Jude 1:20 NIV
Build Yourselves Up
According to the Build Canada website “Canada isn’t something we found. Nor was it something we were given. It was something that was built, by successive waves and generations of people with ideas, energy, and ambition for what this country could be. But in recent years that energy has been lost. We love this country. We believe we have the talent, resources, and potential to be the most prosperous country in the world. We believe Canada can grow – fast and fearlessly.”

The society in which we are living these days, here in Canada, is becoming more and more the antithesis of the Kingdom of God. There was a day, just decades ago, when most Canadians had at least a semblance of a Christian mindset. They might not have had a living relationship with Jesus Christ, but they went to church at least a couple of times a year and appreciated Biblical morality. Now, we are living in a day much like that which Jude describes in verse 18 – scoffers following their own ungodly passions. So, we need to heed the words of Jude in verse 20: “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit…” Jude calls us to be equipped to speak into a far-from-God world. First, we must spend time in God’s Word, building ourselves up in the faith. The more time you spend in God’s Word, the more sure you will be that Jesus is real and the Gospel is true. You will also be more prepared to make a case for it. And as we pray, in tune with the Holy Spirit, we will see God at work.
These have been words from the heart.
