Words from the Heart for Tuesday May 29th, 2018

It was my hand that laid the foundations of the earth, my right hand that spread out the heavens above. When I call out the stars, they all appear in order.

Isaiah 48:13 (NLT)

God’s Hand

We stand in awe as we consider the amazing work of creation as an example of the power of our God. Look tonight at the vast sky and the stars. These were created by an all-wise and all-powerful God. They are placed in order and keep that place as a testimony to Him.

One of Canada’s contributions to the International Space Station is Dextre, also known as the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator. Part of a $200 million commitment by Canada for the international space initiative, Dextre does repairs that would usually require spacewalks. It was launched March 11, 2008 on the Space Shuttle Endeavor. Dextre is the third Canadian robotic arm used on the ISS, preceded by the Space Shuttle’s Canadarm and the larger Canadarm 2. Plans are in place for a three fingered hand to be attached to Dextre.

It has been argued that the strongest force on earth is authority. Let me illustrate. It takes incredible strength to stop a truck. But all a police officer has to do is put up his hand in front of a truck and it will stop. Why? Not because the police officer has superhuman strength, but because he has authority. The prophet Isaiah understood this and wrote in Isaiah 48:13, “It was my hand that laid the foundations of the earth, my right hand that spread out the heavens above. When I call out the stars, they all appear in order.” Biblically, the right hand represents God’s authority. So when the verse here speaks about God’s hand laying the foundation of the world, it is speaking about the authority that He has to create. And He does so by simply speaking – when God calls them out, they obey. Now I’m not saying that God doesn’t have strength – of course He does. But Isaiah is speaking about authority here, and no one has greater authority than God Himself. Allow Him to speak into your life and you will experience His victory- assuring authority.
