Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 NIV

Out of Love

Canada is home to some of the world’s greatest untamed lands, and its vast hinterlands are strongholds for some of the most incredible wildlife on Earth. Canadians Dave and Deb, who run the well-known travel blog The Planet D, say, “We love Canada because adventure can be found in every corner. As outdoor lovers, we can’t get enough of it. But it’s our wildlife that really gets the blood pumping. Canada is an amazing safari destination where we have walked with polar bears, canoed through quiet lakes to spy on moose, kayaked with beluga whales and listened to the cry of the wolf. Canada is awesome.”

When you love someone deeply, there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do for them. You pour your life into theirs, doing all you can to bring blessing into their lives. We often think of these things in light of things like marital and family relationships, but the apostle Paul says that it is this way among followers of Jesus. Paul the apostle wrote about this in 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8: “Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” Paul has started the church in Thessalonica, and many of the believers there had come to know Jesus through his ministry. But Paul had done more than just shared the Gospel with them. He had poured his life into theirs. As we share the Gospel with others, let’s share Jesus’ love as well in how we pour ourselves into their lives.

These have been words from the heart.
