Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Isaiah 40:28 NIV

Everlasting

Last year, the Royal Canadian Mint released the 2022 Canada $10 Everlasting Maple Leaf pure gold coin. Designed by Canadian artist Michelle Grant, the coin’s reverse features an inspiring arrangement of sugar maple leaves that symbolize Canada’s three bordering oceans: Arctic, Atlantic and Pacific. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. Only 5,000 coins are available worldwide — that’s 1,000 less than the previous 1/20 oz. pure gold collector coin, 2020’s An Inuk and a Qulliq.

Nothing in this world lasts very long. Entire TV channels are filled with programs about fixing up homes, some of which are only a few decades old. It is said that modern appliances are manufactured with a seven-year life expectancy. Few people live longer than a century. What a contrast to what the prophet says about the God who created this world. Isaiah 40:28 says: “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Only God is eternal. Only God never gets weary, only God has no life expectancy. Because He is everlasting, God lives in eternity and is not bound by time. He always has the big view – for the world and for our lives. We can trust Him for all our needs, knowing that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, eternal life is ours, and He will provide all we need in this life as well. Trust Him, in life and in eternity. You might grow weary, but He will not. Like Him, His love and His provision are everlasting, and He offers them to you.

These have been words from the heart.
