We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Work and Endurance

In an interesting online article about needed professions in Canada, the ca.indeed.com website lists a variety of engineers – mining, transport, software, computer, electronics and aerospace. The best salary on the list belongs to an engineering manager, with an annual salary of six figures. The primary responsibility is to supervise a team of professionals during the production or manufacturing process. They use engineering principles and mathematical reasoning to create new processes and workflow systems. They may also review systems and methods to increase production efficiency.

It doesn’t take long reading the book of Acts to discover the apostles took seriously their calling to take the Gospel to the whole world. Following Pentecost, they were soon on their way throughout Israel and beyond, sharing the good news about Jesus, carrying on His ministry of compassion and beginning to transform the world. This was the mark of the early church and is still the call for Christians today. Paul would write this to the believers in Thessalonica in 1 Thessalonians 1:3: “We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” While our redemption is a free gift from God, bought at the price of Jesus death and resurrection, once we come to know Jesus by faith, we have a compulsion to share with others what He has done in our lives. This isn’t an onerous task. We work with faith, love, and hope as we serve the Lord Jesus, finding great joy in our service with and for Him.

These have been words from the heart.
