Words from the Heart for Tuesday March 5th, 2019

The Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hands. Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

Joshua 21:43-45 (NIV)

Every Promise Fulfilled

The Canadian Pacific Railway company was incorporated in 1881. Its original purpose was the construction of a transcontinental railway, fulfilling a promise made to British Columbia that convinced the west coast colony to join Confederation. The railway — completed in 1885 — connected Eastern Canada to BC and played an important role in the development of the nation. Built in dangerous conditions by thousands of labourers (including 15,000 Chinese temporary workers), the railway facilitated communications and transportation across the country. Over its long history, CPR diversified, establishing hotels, shipping lines and airlines, and developed mining and telecommunications industries.

There is a wonderful statement about God’s promise keeping in Joshua 21:43-45: “The Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hands. Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” God had made promises to the people of Israel – His chosen people. He had promised them a place they could call their own, land where they could settle and build a nation. The Promised Land, as it had become known, was in their dreams and aspirations for generations. Finally, the Promised Land became the nation of Israel, just as God had promised. I love the last sentence – every one of the Lord’s good promises to Israel was fulfilled. And every promise He has made to you in His Word will be as well. You can count on it.

These have been words from the heart.
