Words from the Heart for Tuesday March 24th, 2020
But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.
John 6:27 (NLT)
Spending Your Energy
Canada has access to all main sources of energy including oil and gas, coal, hydropower, biomass, solar, geothermal, wind, marine and nuclear. It is the world’s second-largest producer of uranium, the third-largest producer of hydro-electricity, fourth-largest natural gas producer, and the fifth-largest producer of crude oil. Only Russia, the People’s Republic of China, the United States and Saudi Arabia produce more total energy than Canada. Canada is the largest supplier of energy exports to the USA, the world’s largest economy.
The vast majority of human beings spend their time focusing on the things that bring blessing to their physical lives. We work hard to earn a living to put food on the table, and so we can purchase things that clothe us and bring pleasure to our lives. There is nothing wrong with this unless we do so while ignoring that which feeds our souls. Jesus spoke about this in John 6:27: “But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.” If we would just learn to spend as much energy, or perhaps even more, on that which brings us eternal life. The gift of eternal life is provided by God the Father through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is what Jesus meant when He said that the Father had given Him the seal of His approval. We need to expend spiritual energy reaching out to Jesus to receive the gift of eternal life and continuing to seek first the kingdom of God. How can you spend your energy doing that today?
