If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

The Canadian Action Party was a Canadian federal political party founded in 1997 and deregistered on 31 March 2017. The party stood for Canadian nationalism, monetary and electoral reform, and opposed liberal globalization and free trade agreements that had been signed by the Canadian government. The Canadian Action Party was founded by Paul T. Hellyer, a former Liberal minister of national defence in the cabinet of Lester B. Pearson. Hellyer later ran unsuccessfully for the leadership of both the Liberal and Progressive Conservative Parties.

God has certain expectations for His people. The transformation of a true follower of Jesus will impact not only our relationship with our Creator but with people too. The closer we draw to Jesus through time in His word and in prayer, the more we will be like Him in our attitude and in our actions. In his first epistle to the early believers, the apostle John writes this in 1 John 3:17-18: “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” There is a way to measure our spiritual life – the more mature believer will not hold onto possessions closely and will feel deep compassion for those who are in need. The commandment of Scripture is that our love for others must be more than just in the words we speak – it must be in the way we live our lives, in how we treat others and in the priorities we set for our lives – God first and others next.

These have been words from the heart.
