You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Isaiah 26:3 NIV

Perfect Peace

The unpredictability of peacekeeping operations makes forecasting costs a challenging task for policymakers and budget planners. Canada has always fulfilled its financial commitment to the UN by paying its dues “in full, on time and without conditions” unlike other nations. In 2022 Canada was the eighth-largest UN peace operations financial contributor with approximately $198.8 million for ongoing missions worldwide. Canada in total allocated $2.49 billion to multiple UN organizations including those related to peacekeeping, policing, research, training, climate change and humanitarian efforts such as medicine and food distribution.

It is interesting that the world uses the military of non-combative nations to attempt to ensure peace between warring countries. In the kingdoms of this world, it takes the military to bring about peace. What a contrast to how the Kingdom of God operates. We understand that the root of a lack of peace, both in the world and in the human heart, is because sin separates us from our Creator. This is why Jesus came – to both take upon Himself our sin and to bear the punishment our sin deserves. Because He did so, by repentance and faith we can experience a profound peace with God that is unattainable any other way. No wonder Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. Isaiah saw this day coming and so wrote in Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” When you put your faith and trust in Jesus, keeping your mind steadfast on Him, no matter what comes your way today, His peace will fill your heart and mind and you will overcome. Turn your eyes, and heart, steadfastly upon Him today.

These have been words from the heart.
