…but test everything; hold fast what is good.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 ESV
Test Everything
In order to apply for a driver’s learning license in Alberta you only have to be 14 years old. If you’re under 18 you need to have parental consent and everyone needs to pass a knowledge test and a vision test. A Class 7 learner’s licence allows you to drive a Class 5 or 6 vehicle (a car or a truck) with someone over 18 who has a full Class 5 driver’s licence or higher. They must sit in the front passenger seat. This licence also allows you to drive a moped.

Jesus taught us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. In a world where many say there is no ultimate truth, His proclamation sounds jarring to those who have never met Him by faith. But for those of us who love Him and have experienced His grace, we know that He is Truth and has revealed that Truth through His Word. As Paul writes the Thessalonians, and error being introduced to the church, he instructs them, and us, this way in 1 Thessalonians 5:21: “…but test everything; hold fast what is good.” When the Lord Jesus birthed His Church, he knew that there would be those who would introduce error. He has just been telling the Thessalonians not to despise prophecy, but he then warns them to ensure that everything lines up with God’s Word. He knew that down through history there would be many false cults and religions started by so called prophets, who taught many things that don’t line up with the Truth that God has laid out in His Word. We must test everything against the unalterable and completely reliable Word of God.
These have been words from the heart.
