But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
Power in Weakness
According to the Business Council of British Columbia, Canada’s economy has some weaknesses that need addressing. In a recent report they write, “Looking through the veneer of booming population growth, the economy is in rough shape. Canada is one of the only advanced countries in the world not to have recovered its pre-pandemic level of GDP per capita. GDP per capita will likely fall by another 1-2 percent in 2023; the outlook for 2024 is little better.”

In the eyes of the world, the powerful are often admired. Because of this, there are those who will do anything to gain power and then keep it. Over the centuries, and still today, countless lives have been lost in large wars and smaller conflicts because of power hungry strongmen. As usual, the principles of the Kingdom of God stand in complete contrast to the principles of the world. Paul the apostle writes this in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” The Kingdom of God turns the principles of the world upside down. As a follower of Jesus, it is in recognizing our weakness, our inability in our own strength and power to live a life according to Biblical principles, that the power of God is unleashed in our lives. True power, power that lasts into eternity, is the power of purity, love and grace that is unleashed by the Holy Spirit in the life of any person who recognizes their need and opens their life to Jesus.
These have been words from the heart.
