Words from the Heart for Tuesday July 24th, 2018

But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.

I Corinthians 2:10 (NLT)

Revealed by God’s Spirit

What would it be like to go into a science centre that holds great knowledge gathered through the years? What would it be like to know what the brightest minds of our day know? Yet, the Spirit of God can give us access to a source much, much more excellent than these. He can search out God’s deep secrets and make them known to us. And, God knows everything about everything. He is God.

If you are in the Ottawa area this summer, you may want to visit a year-long exhibit at the Canadian Museum of History. The exhibit, titled “A Little History” reveals the lives of children in Canadian history. A Little History features 36 unique artifacts, four of which come from the Museum’s collection. The exhibition includes rare photographs, such as a portrait of Louis Riel’s children. It also includes letters and diaries written by children, including Mary Macdonald’s letters to her father, Sir John A. Macdonald.

One of the mysteries of the Bible is the ability of the Living Word to transform lives. At Bible League Canada, we often hear stories of lives that have been radically changed when people picked up a Bible and began to read it. It led them to Jesus and when they put their trust in Him, He changed everything in their lives. There is a reason for this. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 2:10, “But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” The Holy Spirit reveals the truth in God’s word. As we read it, He leads us into understanding of what it is saying. But, there is more. He also reveals our heart – He searches out everything. What a blessing to know that when we read the Bible, the Holy Spirit is active in helping us understand what it is saying to us, and then helps us to know how to apply it to our lives. When you sit down with the Bible, invite the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s deep secrets and the need of your heart.

These have been words from the heart.
