For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

We all love stories about bravery. We celebrate those who face danger with fortitude and courage. From the time we are little, we innately understand that there are scary things in this world. As we grow up, the fears don’t disappear – for some they become paralyzing. Is there anywhere we can find comfort and courage? Listen to the promise of 2 Timothy 1:7: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” It isn’t easy to live for Jesus, and it is even more challenging to speak up for Him and for the truth of His word. In some parts of the world, our brothers and sisters in Christ put their lives on the line daily for being a follower of Jesus. In our part of the world, we face increasing opposition for standing up for Him and proclaiming what the Bible says about God’s standards. Being a follower of Christ needs supernatural empowerment. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit is given to believers to empower us to stand strong for Jesus and live a life marked by love, courage and self-discipline.
These have been words from the heart.
