Words from the Heart for Tuesday July 13th, 2021
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT)
Thinking Less of You
In describing what China thinks of Canada, Lihua Yang, a political science teacher at Shandong University said, “In one of the courses that I teach, Comparative Politics, Canada was omitted from the syllabus for a long period of time mainly because it was believed that Canada is a country without a particularly influential political system or foreign policy in the world arena. Recently, it became obvious that national interest is a top priority for Canada’s foreign policy strategy.
Jesus gathered around Him a group of young people into whom He poured His life for over three years. They were sometimes bold and brash, other times fearful and faithless. Sometimes they asked great questions and at other times foolish ones. A few stayed with Jesus to the cross, many did not. But when the Holy Spirit came and filled their lives, they turned the world upside down. They would put into practice all that Jesus had taught them and they in turn would pour their lives into others. Even though the apostle Paul hadn’t been a part of the original twelve, he understood the importance of building his life and ministry into young leaders. He writes this in 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” Jesus still counts on young people today. He calls you to follow Him, and to live a life that honours Him in every way. His desire is to mold you into a genuine disciple as He did the original twelve. Allow Him to do so.
These have been words from the heart.
