Canada is blessed with a bounty of natural resources and agricultural products. Even in challenging economic times, we enjoy so much of what this planet of ours provides. Those of us who are followers of Jesus understand the principle of bounty. The Bible tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from the goodness of God. As we stand at the beginning of a new year, looking ahead with some uncertainty about what the year ahead might hold, King David gives us this promise in Psalm 65:11: “You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.” God loves to bless His children. Like a loving parent, He gets great joy out of providing for the physical and spiritual needs of those He loves and cares for. He is never stingy and we are often amazed at His generosity. The food on your table, the roof over your head, the loved ones in your life, the joy that you experience, are all gifts from the generous God who created you. You can count on Him, at the beginning of this New Year, to crown the year with bounty.

These have been words from the heart.
