Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Do you know someone whose contributions have made a difference to their community, province or the entire country? Someone who has brought honour to Canada by performing an exceptional deed? Someone who has risked their own life to save another? A volunteer whose lifetime dedication and commitment inspire you? You can shine a spotlight on the extraordinary people you know by nominating them for a Canadian honour. It’s easy to do – just go to the Governor General’s website and submit your nomination.

We are used to living in a country where certain freedoms are guaranteed. At the same time, we know that we need to submit to laws that have been enacted to keep us safe. It would be life threatening to you and others, for example, if you decided you had the right to drive on the left side of the road in Canada. In a spiritual sense, God has a plan for our lives, and has given us instructions on how best to live our lives. He then calls us to submit to His plan and His instructions so that we will enjoy a life filled with peace and joy. King Solomon noticed this and so wrote in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” The sweet spot for the follower of Jesus is right in the centre of His will for our lives. As we submit fully to His rule and reign in our lives, life will go much more smoothly for us. We are called to daily submit to Him. Have you done so today?
These have been words from the heart.
