Words from the Heart for Tuesday February 16th, 2021
…he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Psalm 23:2b-3 (NLT)
He Guides Me
If you are a serious angler, you need to take a post-pandemic trip to Canada’s north and fish Great Slave Lake. According to the website Adventures.com, “This is the land of trophy lakes. Fishing in Canada’s northern heartland is a true pleasure due to these beautiful lakes – all of which boast world-class sport fishing. As a result, generations of people have enjoyed fishing Great Slave Lake.” The best way to catch the biggest fish is to hire a qualified and experienced guide.
Life is not easy. We regularly face decisions that take wisdom greater than our own. Temptation leads to sin in all of our lives, and in far too many cases sin has resulted in men and women falling away from the Christian life. King David understood this, and he writes in Psalm 23: 2b-3: “…he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.” David had experienced the folly of ignoring God’s guidance. He had fallen off the right paths and was determined to never do that again. How much better is life when we are being guided by the Lord. His right path leads beside still water, and He provides the strength we need to walk in victory. Most of all, as we allow Him to guide us, we bring honour to His name. This must be the ultimate goal of every Christ-follower. As the catechism says, the chief aim of man is to glorify God. We do that as we are led by the Lord Jesus and walk in obedience to His guidance. Assure Him today that no matter where He leads, you will faithfully follow.
