Words from the Heart for Tuesday December 4th, 2018

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman,  born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

Galatians 4:4-5 (NIV)

The Set Time Had Fully Come

Perhaps few in that day when Christ was born were really aware that it was the Lord’s designated time for the Saviour to come. Most were likely focused on the distresses of their day. Yet, in spite of many not realizing the time on God’s clock, the Saviour came. Are you asking the Lord today what time it is on his “clock” for our world?

On September 14, 2001, Emma-Jayne Wilson wrote on a piece of paper, “I, Emma-Jayne Wilson, promise – promise – to make it as a jockey.” Nearly six years later, on June 24, 2007, the 148th running of the Queen’s Plate took place at Woodbine racetrack in Toronto. One of the horses running in that race was Mike Fox and the jockey riding him was Emma-Jayne Wilson. The timing was perfect – Mike Fox won and Wilson became the first woman to win the Queen’s Plate.

God has a perfect time for everything! His plans for our lives include a perfect timetable. This shouldn’t surprise us. The Bible speaks of God’s perfect timing for everything. This includes His plan for the redemption of the world. In speaking of the coming of Jesus into our world, Paul writes this in Galatians 4:4-5: “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” I love the phrase “when the set time had fully come.” The people of Israel had been waiting for the Promised Messiah for centuries. It must have seemed like He would never come – not unlike how many feel about Jesus’ second coming. But God was not late – He arrived at the perfect time, when the world’s politics and geography were perfectly aligned. And when the hearts of the people were longing for freedom and deliverance. The timing of His will for your life will also work out perfectly. How can you trust Him for His timing, as well as His plan for your life?

These have been words from the heart.
