Words from the Heart for Tuesday August 6th, 2019
Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the Lord is His treasure.
Isaiah 33:6 (NKJV)
Canada has the 11th largest economy in the world, based on nominal Gross Domestic Product. A member of both the Organization for Economic Cooperation and the Group of Seven, Canada’s is considered one of the most stable economies in the world. In 2015, according to the Forbes Global 2000 List, Canada is ranked 8th with a total of 52 companies on the list. Canada’s political system is a parliamentary democracy, with its own social and political institutions. The economy is closely linked to that of the United States, but Canada has its own economic institutions. Canada also has a well-developed social safety-net to protect citizens from financial inequities.
In a day of great change, men and women are looking for stability. According to a 2013 report, human knowledge is doubling every 13 months and soon it will be every 12 hours. This leads to change that is so rapid we cannot get our minds or bodies around it. That which we have held to be immutable suddenly shifts and we feel like we are losing our emotional and physical equilibrium. Where can we look for stability? Centuries ago, a Godly prophet named Isaiah wrote this in Isaiah 33:6: “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the Lord is His treasure.” This is an interesting principle, considering it is the increase in knowledge that seems to be at the heart of the changes taking place in our world. What Isaiah is speaking about here, however, is not human knowledge, but the knowledge of the things of God, and the wisdom that He alone provides. In our quest for human knowledge, let’s not forget God’s eternal knowledge found in His unchanging Word.
These have been words from the heart.
