By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

God’s Command

As Commander-in-Chief of Canada, the governor general plays a major role in recognizing the importance of Canada’s military at home and abroad. The commander-in-chief offers support and encouragement to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families and loved ones, while helping Canadians recognize the military’s past and present contributions to our country. Specific duties include: acting on the recommendation of the prime minister to appoint the chief of the Defence Staff and acting on the recommendation of the minister of National Defence to appoint Royal colonels of Canadian regiments.

The modern atheist believes that the world exists through a series of random and undesigned events that over billions of years have led to where we are today. There is no intelligent designer, no God, who is behind the miracle of creation. It seems to me that this demands greater faith than we as Christians have, who are taught in the Bible, and fully believe, that there is a loving God behind this majestic world, and that we ourselves are lovingly created by Him. The Bible puts it this way in Hebrews 11:3: “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” This truth, that God commanded this material world into being, and created it all, gives human beings meaning and value. You are not a product of chance – God formed you and knows you, and has a purpose for your life. By faith in Jesus Christ, you discover who you are and what God’s plan is for you. And you live in the assurance of His redeeming love for you.

These have been words from the heart.
