See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Isaiah 43:19 NIV

A New Thing

Canada’s elderly are very aware of a new program that will be introduced across Canada in May. Ottawa is rolling out what it calls its largest federal dental program in phases, as it aims to reduce financial barriers to access dental care such as cleaning, exams and root canals. The country’s eldest low-income residents who are uninsured can start accessing the new Canadian Dental Care Plan’s benefits as early as May 2024. Eligible residents should already have received a letter with instructions on how to apply by phone.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ changes everything. In fact, everything that Jesus does is to make all things news. He promises that He will give us a new heart, a new destination, a new hope, a new life. When we receive Jesus as our Saviour, all things become new. The old is gone, the new has come. God long ago promised this would be the case. The Hebrew prophet quotes God in Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Until we put our faith in Jesus Christ, life is without hope and meaning. We have no assurance of eternal life and death is a mystery. Through Jesus Christ, we discover what our purpose in life is, and eternity is assured. That is the new thing that God does for us through His Son. We discover His way in the wilderness that life so often can be, and he provides a cooling stream for us. Invite Him to make everything new in your life. See, for you, the new thing He will do.

These have been words from the heart.
