In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.

Celestial Beings

This past January Edmonton police say they have charged six more members of a motorcycle gang with ties to the Hells Angels in an investigation into firearms, trafficking, robberies and steroid manufacturing. The charges range from conspiracy to commit assault to possession of stolen property. They bring the total number of people charged to 13 since Edmonton’s drug and gang investigators began probing the One Order Motorcycle Club in October 2024. Police say the outlaw group has been active for a long time in Eastern Canada and in recent years opened its Edmonton chapter.

Our world has made angels into harmless, cute, celestial creatures that flit and fly to bring us love or luck, or loved ones who morph into angels upon their passing. Neither one of these ideas fit the Biblical teaching on angels. They are a part of God’s creation, distinct from human beings. They spend their time in the presence of Almighty God, ministering to and glorifying Him. They do have a service to human beings, but when they make their presence known to people in the Bible, the first human response is fear. Followers of Christ need to be careful that we understand the role that these glorious ones play in God’s plan for our world and treat them with respect. Jude 1:8 tells us this in describing those men and women who are introducing heresy into the church that, “In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.” God is great, and we do best as followers of Jesus when we honour Him and those who serve Him in Glory.

These have been words from the heart.
