Words from the Heart for Thursday September 24th, 2020
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.”
Psalm 91:4 (NIV)
Because He Loves Me
One in five Canadians are committing financial infidelity by keeping a secret about money or spending in their relationship, according to a new Cost of Love survey from Rates.ca. Money misrepresentations are most common among millennials, with almost 30 per cent of younger Canadians admitting to financial infidelity, and men are more likely than women to lie about money. Canadians who are dating or engaged are more likely to have a financial secret than those that are separated or married.
Loving the Lord has eternal benefits. When we trust Jesus as Saviour and Lord, and respond to the love He expressed by His death on the Cross on our behalf, we receive the gift of eternal life. As incredible as that is, there is so much more. God says this in Psalm 91:4: “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” The idea of acknowledging the Lord is important. Romans 10:9 tells us that if we confess with our lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.” If we truly love the Lord, we will want to tell everyone about Him and all that He has done for us. It is confirmation that we truly love Jesus. When that is the case, God gives us a wonderful promise – He will rescue us and protect us. He rescues us from the power of temptation and sin. He protects us from spiritual harm. Our relationship with Jesus is far more than just a get out of hell free card, as true as that is. You can walk in victory today knowing that God has you under His control.
These have been words from the heart.
