For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:3 NIV
God Gives New Life
According to a website designed to help US citizens emigrate to Canada, expatustax.com, “Canada is a diverse country with an open and welcoming immigration policy. Anyone can immigrate to Canada as long as they meet the requirements. Canada is a country of immigrants. Since the first settlers arrived on its shores in the early 1600s, people have been immigrating to Canada from all over the world. Today, more than 20% of Canadians are born outside of Canada, and one in five Canadians speak a foreign language at home, that is not English or French.”

When we think of death, it brings about a variety of responses. For those who don’t have the assurance of eternal life that comes from faith in Jesus Christ, death brings fear, even terror. They try to convince themselves that we just become food for worms, so there is nothing to fear. But they don’t know that for sure – there is always an inkling that maybe those Christians are right, and there is a judgment to face when we take our last breath here. What a contrast to how a follower of Jesus responds when faced with death. To us it is the gateway to Glory, and the moment when faith becomes sight. There is a reason for this – the Bible tells us that we have already died – died to the old before-Jesus life, died to our sinful passion, died to our pride and self-sufficiency. The moment we repented of our sin and turned to Jesus for His redemption, we died. Colossians 3:3 tells us, “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” We already have eternal life – there is nothing more to fear.
These have been words from the heart.
