Words from the Heart for Thursday October 7th, 2021
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
This is the Way
Barbeau Peak is a mountain in Qikiqtaaluk, Nunavut, Canada. Located on Ellesmere Island within Quttinirpaaq National Park, it is the highest mountain in Nunavut and the Canadian Arctic. The mountain was named in 1969 after Marius Barbeau, a Canadian anthropologist whose research into First Nations and Inuit cultures gained him international acclaim. Barbeau Peak is the most isolated summit in North America and its summit has only been reached seven times in history. Only 800 kms from the North Pole, the way to Barbeau Peak is extremely challenging.
I read something the other day that said “Life doesn’t come with directions. Do your best to make your way through it.” What a hopeless, and incorrect, statement. The Bible says something altogether different. Isaiah 30:21 gives this promise: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” The person who has come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ has a great promise – God has a plan for our lives and will guide us as we place our lives in the centre of His will. Yogi Berra once humourously said, “when you come to the fork in the road, take it.” We often come to forks in the road of life. When you do, pause. Seek God’s will. Pray – and remember that prayer is a dialogue, not a monologue. God speaks to our hearts in prayer – guiding us to make the right choices. If you have come to a fork in the road right now, spend time in the Bible and in prayer. Then listen to His voice speak “This is the way; walk in it.”
These have been words from the heart.
