Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

Jeremiah the prophet was known as the weeping prophet. As he looked at the spiritual state of God’s people, the Lord showed Him how destitute they were and how needy. He was called to speak conviction into the hearts of the Israelites. His tender heart was broken by what he was shown. It isn’t always easy to obey the Lord. Sometimes He calls us to hard things, unpopular things. We live in a world far too similar to the world in which Jeremiah lived. Like Jeremiah, our hearts break when we look at our world through the eyes of Jesus. How, then, was it possible for Jeremiah to say what the Lord called Him to say? The answer is found in Jeremiah 32:17: “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.” We must remember that the God who calls us to lovingly speak truth in our age is the same God who created this world. If He is powerful enough to speak our world into being, He is strong enough to empower us and strong enough to change even the most stubborn heart. Nothing is impossible for Him.
These have been words from the heart.
